Scenes of Montmartre - Paris

London

Dollar reaches 6½ year high against the £. At $/£ 1.46 the dollar is now stronger than at any time since May 2002. This is great news for Americans (though not so good for Brits!) and means that in dollar terms London is 40% cheaper than it was last year.

20% off. From January 5th to 28th February 2009, we are offering a 20% discount on selected London properties for stays of 7 days or more. This means that you can stay in London for a little as £23 ($34.50) per person per night (property ref. WYN).

Tickets for "must-see" spring and summer events. Spring and summer London visitors need to book now for "must-see" events if they don't want to be disappointed. These include The Chelsea Flower Show, The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), Beating Retreat and performances at The Globe Theatre. Details of how to book for these events are on the Plan Your Stay page of our London web site - http://www.rentals.chslondon.com.

So you think you know London? Think again. We've put together 151 Things to do in London - have a look, you are sure to discover something new. For example:
Dulwich Picture Gallery (number 41) - the oldest public art gallery in England houses one of the world's most important collections of European old master paintings with masterpieces by Rembrandt, Poussin, Watteau, Rubens, Canaletto, Gainsborough, and more.
And Spencer House (number 68) - London's only great eighteenth-century private palace to survive intact, was built in 1756-66 for John, first Earl Spencer, an ancestor of the late Princess Diana.
You can get to 151 Things to do in London via the Plan Your Stay page of our London web site - http://www.rentals.chslondon.com.

Paris

Stuck for a Valentine's Day gift? Take her to Paris - the world's most romantic city! For ideas of romantic things to do, see Romantic Paris - http://www.romance.chsparis.com.

At $/€1.35 the dollar against the euro has slipped back a bit from its recent highs but it's still over 15% stronger than it was last year. Every expectation is that this rate will improve with the Euro weakening over the coming months. So now may be a good time to book that promised trip to Paris.

Paris for Foodies - or why foodies prefer a rental over a hotel. Paris has over 75 markets - here you will find high quality fresh products and a level of professionalism that is often handed down from father to son. In the supermarket-world that most of us inhabit, shops like this are a distant memory. To enjoy this most delightful and essential part of Paris, even if you are not going to indulge in major cooking, you need to have at least some form of food preparation area and space to sit down and enjoy eating what you have purchased. If you are staying in a hotel you can only sadly walk on by. A vacation rental should therefore be the preferred choice of any food lover wanting to make the most of this wonderful city.
