02 February 2011

Welcome to our February 2011 newsletter. We've sent it to you either because you've been to our website and signed-up to receive it, or because you've previously enquired about one of our rentals, or because you've stayed with us before. If your email system is having problems displaying it properly click here.

Coach House Rentals are the leading specialist in short term rentals. We operate in London, where we are a fully accredited member of Visit London - the official visitor organisation for London, Paris, New York and Rome. We list properties ranging from cosy apartments just for 2 to grand mansions that will sleep up to 12. We've been in business since 2001 and done over 2,500 lets.

We send out some 4/6 newsletters a year, approximately every 2 months though it can sometimes be shorter or longer depending on what there is to tell you, covering such topics as: interesting and unusual things to do and see in London, Paris, Rome and New York over the coming months, new or unusual properties that have joined our listings, tips on how to make the most of your visit to London, Paris, Rome and New York, and special deals.

In every newsletter you have the chance to unsubscribe and we will remove you from our distribution list on request - see end of newsletter.

To prevent our newsletters going to your spam file add this to your address book: newsletter@chsrentals.com.

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you feel might like to know about us.

We welcome feedback about our newsletters - do let us know what you like and what you don't like: feedback@chsrentals.com.

Remember - not only is it much nicer to stay in a rental rather than a hotel, it's often much more cost effective - especially for families and more than 2 people travelling together. Full details of our services, all our properties and how to book, together with suggested itineraries and a helpful list of things to do and see can be found on our websites.

London

Royal Wedding. It's now less than 90 days till the big day – 29 April. If you want to be part of a "once in a lifetime" experience we do still have some availability over this period. The day has been proclaimed a national holiday so everyone can enjoy the event. This is a good website to find out what is going on.

Between now and the date (and maybe afterwards?) there's a company offering a 2½ hour Royal Wedding Walk visiting the London locations and landmarks that helped define the next Royal golden couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton. You will learn about Kate's life prior to joining 'the firm' and hear firsthand the whole story - from William's cherished mother Diana, to Kate's engagement ring, and all the gossip in between.

Boris Bikes. The mayor of London – Boris Johnson's bike hire scheme is now fully up and running with thousands of bikes and hundreds of docking stations all over central London. What better way to see the city than on a bike! Full details.

Book for must see events. Spring and summer London visitors need to book now for "must-see" events if they don't want to be disappointed. These include The Chelsea Flower Show, The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), Beating Retreat and performances at The Globe Theatre. Details of how to book for these events are on the "Plan Your Stay" page of our London website.

If you are quick you can still catch the end of our Jan/Feb 20% discount promotion – details.

Paris

"I love Paris in the springtime". Cole Porter was right, spring is the classic time to visit this beautiful and glamorous city. The weather is usually warm and balmy, the air is fresh, the trees are decked in fresh green and blossom, and the flowers blooming. Fewer tourists than in the peak summer months also mean shorter lines for the "must-see" attractions such as the Louvre (the world's largest palace housing the world's largest collection of art) and the Musée D'Orsay (once a railway station now host to the electrifying works of the impressionists and post-impressionists). Our 101 Things to do in Paris is a great resource not only for first timers who will find details of all the main attractions, but also for regular visitors who are sure to discover something new.

Our Romantic Paris page is for lovers young and old and will put a twinkle in the eye of any lover - read and discover! Paris for Foodies mainly covers selected Paris food markets but also includes a selection of very short English speaking cooking classes suitable for short-stay Paris visitors.

We've recently added a number of new properties to our Paris listings. Check out PBRQ - rue de Braque a bright modern one bed room apartment sleeping 2/3 in the heart of the Marais. Another is PGCE - rue Gracieuse a two bedroom apartment sleeping 3 in the fabled Latin Quarter and owned by a former Director of Arts and Culture at Unesco and personal friend of Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoire! New York

Come the end of February, the dreaded New York winter is over and the city becomes a friendly place to visit again. Basketball lovers will not want to miss the annual National Invitation Tournament. The NIT, started in 1938, is the oldest tournament in college basketball. The matches take place at Madison Square Gardens with the semi-finals on Tue 30th March and the championship on Thu 1st April. Tickets.

Also at "The Garden" on 16th and 20th March is Elton John and his band featuring number one chart hits and classic album tracks from throughout Elton's incredible five-decade career.

And don't forget the famous St. Patrick's Day Parade on Thu 17th March – this year is the 250th! The parade is one of New York City's greatest traditions, it hosts 150,000- 250,000 marchers, along with many great bands; bagpipes, high school bands and the inevitable politicians in front of approx 2 million spectators.

We have some great new New York properties on our listings. YW81112.3 is a spacious and elegant one bedroom apartment in Manhattan's historic Upper West Side, with its own private outdoor patio, sleeping 2/5. And in the same building, ideal for larger parties if both are booked together, is YW81112.4, a spacious two bedroom apartment sleeping 4/6. These apartments are just a couple of blocks away from Central Park. Details of these and other properties.

Rome

"All roads lead to Rome", or at least did! With St. Peter's Basilica, Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel and The Colosseum, Rome is one of the world's "must visit" places. This fascinating city merits a longer stay than the average tourist often allows - as you will see on our web pages Plan your Stay in Rome and our 101 things to do in Rome.

Number 54 of our 101. Aventine Hill (Aventino) - One of the seven hills of ancient Rome, the Aventino retains a certain detached and peaceful quality despite its central location. Within a radius of 500 yards of the hill you can find the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Roman Forum, Monte Testaccio, the Tiber River and Isola Tiberina. This, along with the beautiful villas and temples that occupy its streets and squares, makes the Aventino one of the most sought after residential neighbourhoods in Rome.

Two new properties have recently joined our listings, both are on Aventino! RAVT - a quiet 2 bedroom apartment sleeps 3 people, and RAVH - a spacious 5 bedroom / 5 bathroom house with large terrace and car parking that sleeps up to 10. Full details of these and other properties.
