London, Paris, Rome and
New York in the spring

Culture for the Kids

Now could be the ideal time to introduce "old world" culture to the younger generation. With the dollar daily gaining in strength against the pound and the euro (you can check the current rates any time via links on our web site) "the old world" is more affordable than it has been for a long time. London, Paris and Rome, those great icons of European culture, are waiting to be revealed to your young! And there's no need to pay for two or more rooms in an expensive hotel, you can be all under one roof and "live like a local" in one of our vacation rentals

London

It's no use arriving in London and expecting to get into events that have been sold out months ago. Tickets are available NOW for these not-to-miss late spring and early summer events. Details of what's on and how to book at http://rentals.chslondon.com/suggestions.htm.

Special properties. We are often asked if there are any rentals that we particularly recommend. While all the houses and apartments that we offer have their own distinctive character, we do have a number of favourites - particular attractive and/or good value properties that are often made available by their owners. You will find them featured on http://rentals.chslondon.com/properties.htm.

Did you know?
(1) Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, encapsulates 900 years of British History. You can visit the magnificent State Rooms and St Georges Chapel.
(2) Hampton Court Palace. In 1528 Cardinal Wolsey gave Hampton Court Palace to King Henry VIII in a vain attempt to appease the king, who was incensed that Wolsey could not negotiate his divorce. The palace on the River Thames is a magnificent example of Tudor architecture. You can also explore the world-famous Hampton Court maze. More details and a list of 150 other interesting things to do and see at our 151 Things to do in London at http://rentals.chslondon.com/151.htm.

Paris

"I love Paris in the springtime." Cole Porter was right, spring (actually April to June) is the classic time to visit this beautiful and glamorous city. The weather is usually warm and balmy, the air is fresh, the trees are decked in fresh green and blossom, and the flowers blooming.

Have you discovered our useful Paris information pages? 101 Things to do in Paris is a great resource not only for first timers who will find details of all the main attractions, but also for regular visitors who are sure to discover something new. Romantic Paris http://romance.chsparis.com/ is for lovers young and old and will put a twinkle in the eye of any lover - read and discover! Paris for Foodies mainly covers selected Paris food markets http://foodies.chsparis.com/ but also includes a selection of English speaking cooking classes suitable for short-stay Paris visitors.

We also have a selection of favourite properties in Paris, you will find them at http://rentals.chsparis.com/properties.htm.

Rome

The saying is that a lifetime is not long enough to see Rome - there is just too much to see. We have taken a few highlights of Rome and things that one should experience in order to get to know and enjoy this remarkable city. It is also a great excuse to keep returning to "the eternal city". Here is a sample of what you will find:

Castel St Angelo - Originally the tomb of the emperor Hadrian. It was erected in 130AD as a mausoleum for himself and his family. The castle later became a stronghold linked to the Vatican Palace. The building is nearly 50m high and Puccini had Tosca hurl herself to her death from the ramparts here.

Museo e Galleria Borghese - The Borghese Gallery is a famous art gallery located in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana. The art collection contained in the gallery is renowned all over Europe. Napoleon even bought a large part of the collection in 1807 and transferred it to the Louvre. After new pieces were added in the 19th century, the collection was bought by the Italian state along with the entire property.

Il Gelato di San Crispino - serves what many consider to be the best ice-cream in Rome! The secret is the makers' obsessive control over the whole process. The flavours on offer change according to what is in season. As cones would interfere with the purity of the product, only tubs are allowed. It also offers exquisite Jamaican coffee. In summer on Fridays and Saturdays it remains open until 1.30am.

You will find these, and another 98 interesting things to see and do in Rome at: 101 Things to do in Rome.

New York

There's nothing like Spring in New York! It's that time of year again, and you know what that means - it doesn't matter if you're uptown or downtown, on the east side or west side, outside is where you want to be! We have a number properties with either private balconies, or access to exclusive rooftop terraces where you can take in the gorgeous views and seasonal weather. This is a very busy time of year, with the Easter Parade, The Macy's Annual Flower Show, the Tribeca Film Festival, and numerous Street Fairs and Festivals. Properties are booking up quickly, but we still have availability in the following:

YW55230 - This one bedroom apartment is ideally located between Manhattan's bustling Midtown and Columbus Circle. The apartment is in a luxury, doorman controlled, building and offers a peaceful experience away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner has a beautiful art collection that is stylishly displayed throughout the space. The neighborhood is convenient and full of amenities - the nearest subway is only 3 blocks away, on 57th Street and Seventh Avenue - and there is a glorious private roof deck to be enjoyed - 32 floors up!
